CSD '06

"It all began on June 30th, 1979: the descriptive term "CSD" had not yet been established. "Gay Pride" was the motto used by the 400 demonstrators on the West-Berlin streets, some of them in disguise because of fear. They cried "gays come out of your holes, alone you will only decay" and "stand up lesbians and the world stands for you". With these slogans they remembered the 10-year anniversary of the police raids on New York City's Stonewall Bar on Christopher Street, that lead to street riots on the night of 28th of June, 1969.

CSD originally began as a small demonstration but after the fall of the Berlin Wall it began to take on more of a street fair character with better organisation. "Dilution of political goals" voiced some critics. "Is it a carnival?" asked irritated heteros on the street side; "too little content for so much commerce" could even be heard from the ranks. The Berlin lesbian-gay community argued over this so strongly that a second, alternative CSD demonstration winds through the streets of the city's Kreuzberg district. "The big parade is a gay-dominated event, only a party, fun and sex!" is the complaint of many."

I just loved that guy with his watergun. He wasn't gay but told me that enjoys the atmosphere of the demonstration.

"Sick Bastards".. I mean If they like to wear this fetish-dress, it's ok for me but at the time of the demonstration we got like 34°Celsius in Berlin. ^^

"Upper-Class" female watching the parade while sitting on her own chair.

Doesn't he look like Boy George ?!

Rock On
